Can eating fibers decrease uric acid?

Your mother told you fibers were good for you. What she did not tell you was that they are good for your gout as well. Because fibers reduce uric acid. Not just in what you eat, but in your blood as well.

Vegetables is an excellent source of dietary fibers.
The somewhat surprising result is based on rat studies, as so many medical studies are. Rats are actually a bad model of gout sufferers, because they have an enzyme which destroys uric acid. By surpressing it, or using rats which have been genetically modified to lack it and so resemble humans, the researchers can use the rats to get results applicable in humans.
SOLUBLE FIBERS DECREASE UA
There are many different kinds of dietary fiber, even in the same vegetables. If all fibers were structurally bearing, vegetables would be like wood. But they are not. Vegetables are made up of many different types of fibers, some as inflexible and indigestible as wood, some much softer and water-soluble.
It is that kind of fiber which carries the uric acid out of the body. It does it by attracting enzymes in the blood which carry uric acid, and carrying them out of the body.
Normally, the urine removes some 80 % of uric acid in the body, and the rest is excreted through the upper intestine or retained (that is usually a very small portion). So if you could increase the amount of uric acid in your body by increasing the excretion from the upper intestines, and maintain the same excretion through the kidneys as you normally have, the amount of uric acid in your body would decrease.
