Before the corona virus, the Japanese government wanted people to have a chance to see the closing ceremony of the Olympic games. So they moved a holiday from Thursday this week to Sunday, which means it is observed on Monday (causing problems for calendar manufacturers), but things did not play out as they expected, to say the least.
