Purines are tricky. There are purines in a lot of things - sometimes much more than you think, too. As I live in Japan, I normally use a purine table from Teikyo
university in Japan, as I live here. But there ate many purine tables on the Internet, including a German one which may be more adapted to European cuisine. But it is sometimes hard to find the content of your meal anyway, so sometimes you have to guess (the Japanese table does not list udo, a Japanese vegetable which typically is the first to sprout in spring and which tastes great as tempura). Todays weather and temperature: Pretty warm and spring-like, the cherry trees have broken out in southern Japan, but it is still a few weeks away here. Breakfast: Pao de Quejo, Brazilian tapioca bread with cheese. Lunch: We went to a "gyutan" restaurant, serving exclusively ox tounge dishes. In Sendai they have turned this completely overlooked piece of meat (which of course is one of the cows most excercized muscles) into a slew of delicious dishes. Which are full of purines. Purines are tricky because the effect on your uric acid is not dependent on the proportion of purines in your food, but the absolute amount. Even a little purines will raise your uric acid. Well, I will see tomorrow, my feet still feel a bit funny. Snack: A few nuts. Dinner: Indian "momo", vegetarian curry dumplings. Todays supplements and dosage: None Todays UA reading: 9.3 mg/dL.
