The best way of beating gout is losing weight. But diet does not seem to work, even when combined with moderate excercise. So now I am taking a new step: I am going 16:8.
Let me explain. The main reason you are gaining weight is that the food you eat contains more energy than you use. Another resson is that your body never starts burning up all that fat you had collected over the years. Because when the glucose that your liver has worked so hard to create (producing uric acid in the process) is burned up - there is more glucose! If you do not want that to happen, you need to reduce your glucose production. And if you reduce it for more than 12 hours or so, your body starts burning fat. I tried going 5:3, where you fast for 5 days and eat normally for 3. Or was it the other way around? Anyway, fasting for a whole day was too rough. Not to speak of two. So now I am going to try a different alternative: 16:8. Every day you fast for 16 hours (including sleeping), and eat normal meals for 8 hours. Which in practice means you eat two meals every day. One less than I usually eat. Every day. That ought to have some effect. Todays weather and temperature: It really has become cooler. Down to 20 degrees centigrade.
