Introducing The Sixpad Foot Fit Plus
Getting rid of gout means getting rid of the uric acid crystals (actually monosodium urate) that form in the ligaments and sinews in your body. Most people get attacks in their feet, because they actually are a little cooler than the rest of your body, and the blood flow lower there even if you do not have any circulatory problems. So that is where it is easiest for the uric acid crystals to form.
To get rid of uric acid crystals in the feet, you need to move your muscles. Your feet are complex aggregates of bone, ligaments and muscles which ensure that you can move standing up over uneven terrain. It is no mean feat (or feet - pardon the pun). It is easy enough to move your toes, even "playing piano" with them, although most people can not move their feet independently like they can their fingers. But that does not mean you move the muscles deep in your feet. To do that, you need to be walking over uneven terrain, or playing some kind of sport which exercises your feet. But if you just had a gout attack, you will be too sore to move, even if the pain has left.
SITTING DOWN AND WORKING OUT
The solution to making the muscles in your feet move without moving your feet - or your legs - is the Sixpad FootFit Plus. This is an EMS (Electro-Muscular Stimulation) device specifically intended for feet. It will not give your toes a sixpack, but it will make sure that the blood circulation (and temperature) in your feet increases. This will make it more difficult for crystals to form, and more difficult for you to have a gout attack.
NO STICKY PADS
If you are familiar with EMS training or body sculpting, you know that you have to apply sticky contact pads (in the same way as with medical EEG). But the Sixpad for feet is different. There are no sticky contact pads. You just place your feet in the right places and start the machine by pressing the "on" button. Then it takes a couple of seconds while the machine checks the electric circuit, and the indivator turns from -- to 00.
Depending on what you have previously selected it goes to "conditioning" or "training" mode. In the "training" mode it will work your muscles in ways that will help build them up - and give the muscles in your feet excercise.

RUNS A MONTH ON BATTERIES
The Sixpad for feet runs on ordinary flashlight batteries. When you buy it, the Sixpad for feet is delivered with batterirs, and if you use it every day, those batteries last for about a month.
If you want to replace them with rechargeable lithium batteries, you can, but you have to get them yourself. And you have to remember to charge them and replace them yourself, which is almost more of a hassle than it is worth. Still, in the long run it will cut your costs and be more eco-friendly than traditional batteries.

TRAINING YOUR THIGHS
The Sixpad for feet can be used for feet straight out of the box, but it also comes with a full-leg training option. These are sleeves which go on your thighs and stimulate the muscles there in addition to the muscles in your feet. The electric current oroginates in your thigh and is terminated in your foot. It is quite useful if you are also trying to lose weight, as the thigh muscles are the second biggest in the body (after gluteus macimus, the muscle you are sitting on).
However, there are two caveats when it comes to the full-leg training. First, the electrodes (which are sticky pads) are rather expensive. At more than 20 dollars each you do not want to pay the cost of the electrodes every one to two months, so try sticking the ordinary one-dollar electrodes on them.
The second caveat is that when you try to place the thigh belts on your thigh, you notice this is a Japanese device - and made for Japanese. Even a moderately overweight Westerner will have problems making the belts fit around their thighs. That is even if you extend the belt to maximum. The Sixpad for feet comes with an extension belt, but only one, and the machine only works if you have both or none of the thigh belts plugged in.
On the other hand, you can actually use it to shape your thighs to a somewhat more attractive shape. I would not believe this if I had not seen it, but since the electrodes stimulate more muscle movement close to the electrode site, it uses up more fat near the site of the electrode than in the rest of the body. My wife went from rather plump to slim using this technique (although it was administered by a masseur and cost several months salary).

TRAINING YOUR ANKLES
The training program lasts 23 minutes, It will run through the different muscles in your feet, sometimes you may not feel them. And it also gives the muscles in the ankle a workout. In the training mode, it is easy to set the level too high, so that your feet feel like they are cramping. For me, about 12 to 14 is the best.
Each program is intended to be enough for a day, but there nothing to stop you from running the program again and again. There is only one program in both the training and conditioning modes, but since the intent is to move your foot muscles to improve circulation, not to bulk them up like a bodybuilder, that is quite sufficient. You are not trying to use the sixpad to build a sixpack, but to prevent gout attacks.
