Testing orotic acid
When you have gout, you want to minimize the amount of uric acid in your body. You can do it by reducing the amount of uric acid in your diet, but your body still produces 70% of the uric acid in your blood. Allopurinol can reduce the production, but if your uric acid has had time to build up, you want to get rid of more than your body produces. That means excreting it through the urine - but how can you do that?
